Cops nabbed after stolen jewellery investigation

KUALA LUMPUR: Four policemen have been arrested following an internal investigation into stolen jewellery.

According to Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa, a complainant had reported the theft, with the case initially classified as a police inquiry paper.

However, additional statements led to the case’s reclassification as theft.

“The investigations led to the arrest of four policemen within the Setapak area.

“Their ranks range from constable to corporal, aged between 28 and 35,” said Comm Rusdi in a statement yesterday.

“During the arrests, a receipt and a yellow metal piece weighing 11.52g were seized.”

Comm Rusdi added that all suspects have been remanded for three days until today.

He also urged the public not to speculate about the case, as it could disrupt ongoing investigations.
