Woman fined RM4,000 over fake story about being forced into vice by ah long


GEORGE TOWN: A woman who falsely claimed in a TikTok podcast that she was coerced into prostitution to settle her father's loan shark debt has been slapped with a RM4,000 fine in default nine months' jail.

Wan Ainsyatul Mime Wan Yuszaidi, 26, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Siti Nurul Suhaila Baharin here on Friday (Oct 25).

She admitted making the false statements from her apartment in Ampang Jajar, Butterworth at about 3.30pm on July 26.

Her actions were said to have caused fear among the public and triggered a police investigation.

The offence under Section 505 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to two years, a fine, or both upon conviction.

Earlier, police detected the video on TikTok, in which Wan Ainsyatul claimed that her father was RM20,000 in debt and gave the loan sharks the names and addresses of his family members.

She added that the ah long had forced her to work in a brothel since February.

Police tracked her down and found that the story was fabricated.
