Mum and daughter arrested for abusing maid

KUALA LUMPUR: Claims of abuse against a foreign maid led to the arrest of a mother and daughter.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail said that the 25-year-old Indonesian victim had escaped from her employers after obtaining help from the public.

She then informed the police of her ordeal on Oct 13, where she claimed that she was abused with a hammer and hot iron.

“She sustained injuries to both arms and legs.

“The employers’ accusations of her laziness and dissatisfaction over her frequent failure to complete housework as instructed are believed to have motivated the abuse,” said ACP Mohd Azam’s statement yesterday.

Two women, aged 40 and 61 years old, were arrested in Taman Putra Sulaiman, Ampang, on Oct 14.

“Both have no prior records and are out on bail until investigations are completed,” he said.
