Budget 2025: RM20mil in matching grants for micro-entrepreneurs’ insurance, takaful contributions


KUALA LUMPUR: RM20mil in matching grants will be provided, with RM5mil specifically allocated for insurance or takaful contributions for micro-entrepreneurs such as hawkers.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that this would be matched by contributions from insurance companies or takaful operators.

Additionally, RM3.2bil by agencies such as Tekun and Bank Simpanan Nasional will be provided to assist small entrepreneurs including persons with disabilities and those from the Chinese and Bumiputera communities.

There will also be up to RM20bil SME financing guarantee from Syarikat Jaminan Pembiayaan Perniagaan Berhad (SJPP) including a special guarantee of RM5bil for Bumiputera SMEs, RM130mil for various activities including financing for Indian entrepreneurs and RM800mil under MARA and PUNB to train and support Bumiputera entrepreneurs and to support local artisans.
