ACADEMY Award-winning Indian music director and composer AR Rahman will hold a fund-raising concert for US presidential election candidate Kamala Harris, Makkal Osai reported.

Harris, the Democratic Party nominee, is of Indian heritage through her maternal lineage.

The Asian American Pacific Islanders Victory Fund, which endorsed the incumbent US vice-president’s historic run in the Nov 5 presidential polls, announced the live-streamed concert on social media.

There were also reports that Rahman had recorded a 30-minute performance, to be released on streaming platforms with a message supporting Harris.> A total of 200 Indian students from B40 families have received financial help for tertiary education from Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Makkal Osai also reported.

The Deputy Prime Minister’s Indians’ welfare special officer Arvind Appalasamy revealed it as he met the latest batch of students who had received the aid.

The Bagan Datuk MP has vowed to continue assisting the families, Arvind said.
