Three burn victims rushed to hospital after major blaze at SiLC industrial area


ISKANDAR PUTERI: Three foreign workers have been rushed to Hospital Sultanah Aminah (HSA) here after a fire in the SiLC industrial area.

The fire involved four structures.

Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm M. Kumarasan said police received a distress call at 11.40am on Thursday (Oct 10).

“The three workers were sent to the hospital for immediate medical treatment.

"Six other foreign workers at the factories did not sustain any injuries," he said when met at the scene of the fire on Thursday (Oct 10).

According to ACP Kumarasan, the fire broke out at 11.30am at a facility that stored chemicals, believed to be solvents.

He said firemen had brought the blaze under control and were in the process of extinguishing it.

A Johor Fire and Rescue Department spokesman confirmed that the operation was ongoing as of 3.52pm.

He said a logistics warehouse was 80% damaged while three factories belonging to a chemical company were 90% burnt.

“Three male Bangladeshi nationals sustained 30% first-degree burns from the incident and have been sent to HSA for medical treatment,” he added.

A total of 39 firemen from six stations have been deployed in the operation.
