Thunderstorms to hit 10 states, including Penang and Selangor


PETALING JAYA: Thunderstorms have been forecast in the afternoon for 10 states in Malaysia, including Penang and Selangor on Wednesday (Oct 9).

According to an advisory issued by the Meteorological Department at 12.40pm, thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected for the entire state of Perlis and Melaka.

Other areas expected to see storms are Kedah (Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena and Padang Terap), Penang (North Seberang Perai, Central Seberang Perai and South Seberang Perai), Jeli in Kelantan and Cameron Highlands in Pahang.

Also affected are Selangor (Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Klang, Petaling and Kuala Langat), Johor (Tangkak, Kluang, Mersing, Pontian, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru), Sarawak: Kuching (Kuching), Serian, Samarahan (Samarahan and Asajaya) and Mukah (Daro and Matu), and Sabah: Kudat (Pitas and Kudat).

The storms are expected to last until 3pm.
