S'gor Ruler, Johor Regent call for football rivalries to be kept strictly to the field


PETALING JAYA: Johor Regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim had an audience with Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah on Tuesday (Oct 1).

During the audience, Sultan Sharafuddin and the Regent of Johor shared their thoughts on the unity of the people, professionalism in Malaysia and the importance of the Royal Institution as a symbol of the country, a post on Tunku Ismail's official Facebook page on Wednesday (Oct 2) read.

The Royals also agreed that there is a need for all parties to ensure that football rivalries stay on the pitch and for there to be mutual respect and unity off the pitch.

Sultan Sharaffudin is the patron of the Selangor Football Club, while Tunku Ismail owns the Johor Darul Ta'azim (JDT) football club.
