Croc attack victim’s mauled body found in Kunak

KOTA KINABALU: The partial body of a man who went missing after a crocodile attack in Sabah has been recovered.

Plantation worker Ridwan Nawir, 50, was found about 600m from where he was reported missing a day earlier at a river close to Ladang KLK Jatika in Kunak.

Kunak Fire and Rescue station chief Mohammad Omarbatha said they found a badly mauled body with several parts missing at 9.40am yesterday.

“It is not a full body – one leg, part of the torso and head are missing,” he said.

The remains were found about two hours after firemen began the search using boats, with local villagers assisting the search along the riverbank on the second day of the operation.

Mohammad said the victim’s body was handed over to police for further investigation.

The search-and-rescue operation was called off following the recovery of the partial body.

Ridwan was setting up a fishing net in the river on Monday morning when a friend saw him being attacked by a crocodile.
