RM1.9mil frozen meat syndicate busted in Kampung Baru Subang

KUALA LUMPUR: Some 34 tonnes of pork carcasses and 97 boxes of frozen chicken without halal certification worth RM1.5mil were seized following raids on three premises in Kampung Baru Subang.

Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department’s Wildlife Crime Bureau (WCB) commander Senior Asst Comm Mohd Zaki Ashar said the integrated operation was conducted with the cooperation of several agencies on Wednesday (April 1).

“In addition to the frozen meat, we also seized three weighing scales and three one-tonne lorries.

“The total value of the seized items is estimated at RM1.9mil,” he said in a statement on Thursday (April 2).

A total of 32 individuals, including three company owners and managers aged between 22 and 59, were detained to assist in investigations, he said.

“All suspects have been taken to the Sungai Buloh district police headquarters for further action.

“Compounds were also issued by various agencies for multiple offences,” he said.

SAC Mohd Zaki said the operation successfully crippled a syndicate involved in the smuggling, distribution and sale of frozen food, which had been actively operating in the Klang Valley.
