Do not be worried of deviant cults in Perak, says state police chief

IPOH: The public should not be worried about the activities of deviant cults in Perak, says state police chief Datuk Comm Azizi Mat Aris.

“Perak for now is still 'Aman dan Damai' (peaceful), and the public should not be concerned.

“There is no cause for alarm, and if there are any threats to the nation’s security and peace, we will take necessary action,” he told reporters after attending a road safety advocacy programme at a school in Chemor on Monday (Sept 30).

On Saturday (Sept 28), Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad had said that there were only a few deviant cults in Perak.

He had said that the state is aware about their existence and are not publicly disclosing them because they are being watched closely by the authorities, including the Perak State Islamic Religious Department (JAIPk).

When asked if there were more arrests made in connection with the Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB), Azizi answered no.

He said so far there were no additional arrests made in Perak, and that any official statements on the matter would be issued by Bukit Aman.
