Monitor logo changes, enforcement bodies told

SEREMBAN: State enforcement agencies here have been told to closely monitor the activities of businesses said to be linked to Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB) as some are believed to have started making changes to their logo to avoid being probed, says Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun (pic).

The Mentri Besar said the state authorities have obtained leads indicating that some of these businesses have started making minor changes to their business logos to show that they are not linked to GISB.

“The enforcement agencies, including the state Islamic affairs department are gathering evidence on this.

“We will act once police conclude their probe,” he told reporters after chairing the state exco meeting at Wisma Negeri.

Aminuddin said the decision taken by the state government will also depend on the outcome of the police investigations.

“We do not wish to hamper police investigations for now.

“But the state agencies including the local councils have been told to continue to monitor the situation on the ground,” he said.

Aminuddin added that the state authorities are aware of the location of GISB-linked businesses throughout the state.Separately, he also reminded state Islamic agencies to monitor all tahfiz and madrasah to ensure that they do not violate any provisions in the state Islamic laws.

“We should not only be conducting probes whenever such an issue arises.

“The monitoring of these institutions, especially those that are not (considered to be) in the mainstream, should be done regularly,” Aminuddin said.
