Perak Water Board worker injured due to sinkhole

IPOH: A 30-year-old Perak Water Board (LAP) worker sustained injuries when a section of a construction site in Perak Tengah caved-in.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department operations assistant director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said a distress call was made at 2.22pm on Wednesday (Sept 25).

He said the incident happened near a petrol station on Jalan Pasir Salak.

“When firemen arrived at the scene which was some 17km away from the nearest fire station, a sinkhole had occurred at a certain section of the location.

“The victim’s right leg was buried under the soil right up to his thigh. Passers-by managed to pull the victim out before the firemen arrived,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.

The victim received medical treatment at the site.

He added that the firemen monitored the site to ensure the area was safe.
