World Presidents’ Conference to be held in KL, says Dr Wee

SHANGHAI: The fifth World Presidents’ Conference will be held in Malaysia to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The MCA president said this was decided during a courtesy call to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi by a delegation led by chairman of the organising committee Liu Jiang.

Dr Wee, who also attended the meeting, reported on reparations for the Fifth World Presidents' Conference to the Deputy Prime Minister.

“In conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia, the organising committee has decided to hold the conference in Kuala Lumpur.

“This will be the first time the conference will be held overseas,” he said.

MCA and the Malaysia-China Friendship Association will co-host the event, to be held at Wisma MCA on Dec 2 and 3.

Dr Wee said the Deputy Prime Minister stated that the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China is of great significance, and that he would personally attend the conference to meet and exchange views with business association leaders from around the world.

Ahmad Zahid also gave assurance to get various government departments to provide additional support for the conference held in Malaysia.

“The Deputy Prime Minister has expressed pleasure in accepting the invitation to serve as an advisor/patron for the conference.

“He welcomes leaders of social organisations and entrepreneurs from around the world to visit Malaysia to gain a deeper understanding of its development potential,” he added.

Dr Wee said the Deputy Prime Minister has also accepted the invitation to deliver a keynote address.

It is expected that hundreds of presidents of business associations, entrepreneurs, CEOs, and senior executives from investment companies worldwide will gather in Kuala Lumpur for the Fifth World Presidents' Conference.
