Dr Ling conferred honorary doctorate by TAR UMT due to his contributions, dedication, says Dr Wee


PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong witnessed the conferment of an honorary doctorate on Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik at the Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) on Saturday (Sept 7).

"It is a double celebration today as not only do we rejoice in our graduates who have achieved a significant milestone in their lives, we also celebrate the life of Dr Ling, who is an outstanding individual," the MCA president said in a Facebook post Saturday.

Dr Wee said Dr Ling, who served as the council chairman of the then TAR College from 1986 to 2004, was bestowed the title of Honorary Doctor of Philosophy in Business for his contributions and dedication to the development of TAR UMT during his 18 years of service in the institution.

"I am honoured to have witnessed the presentation of the honorary doctorate to Dr Ling with MCA leaders, veterans and members at the ceremony this morning," the Ayer Hitam MP said.

At the ceremony, TAR UMT presented scrolls for Doctor of Philosophy to Dr Monna Ong Siew Siew and Doctor of Philosophy (Computer Science) to Dr Kathleen Tan Swee Neo, a first in the university history.

"Congratulations again to both Dr Ling and our graduates as you celebrate this momentous and joyous day," added Dr Wee.
