No Malaysians reported affected by Tropical Storm Yagi, says Wisma Putra


PUTRAJAYA: The Foreign Ministry has not yet received any information regarding Malaysian citizens affected by the incident of Tropical Storm Yagi in Luzon, Philippines.

In a statement on Tuesday (Sept 3), Wisma Putra, said that it is closely monitoring the situation through the Embassy of Malaysia in Manila

Wisma Putra stated that the storm made landfall in the eastern town of Casiguran, Aurora Province, on Sept 2.

"As of Sept 3, the centre of the storm has moved to the coastal waters off the northern city of Laoag in Ilocos Province. The storm had sustained winds of 75 km/h and is expected to move northwest over the South China Sea in the coming days.

"As of 4pm local time on Sept 3, no Malaysians have been reported to be involved or affected by the tropical storm,” said Wisma Putra

Wisma Putra urged Malaysians in the affected areas to stay vigilant and follow the latest updates and guidance provided by the local authorities.

"Those who have not yet registered and updated their whereabouts and details are strongly encouraged to do so immediately at https://ekonsular.kln.gov.my,” it said.
