Suspect killed in shootout with cops in Bukit Beruntung


HULU SELANGOR: A 36-year-old man was killed following a shootout with the police in Bukit Beruntung, Rawang.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said police personnel had instructed the suspect to stop his vehicle but he refused to do so at about 9.33pm on Friday (Aug 30).

"The suspect then fired shots at the police personnel, forcing them to return fire.

"The suspect was killed at the scene," he said in a statement on Saturday (Aug 31).

Comm Hussein said the suspect had 16 prior criminal records for various offences.

"We are investigating under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder and Section 8 of the Firearms Act 1960.

"We urge those with information on the incident to contact Hulu Selangor police at 03-60641223 or the nearest police station," he said.
