Married couple charged with murder of woman's eldest child

SELAYANG: A man and his wife have been charged in a Magistrate's Court here on Tuesday (Aug 27) with the murder of the woman's eldest child two weeks ago.

Security guard Mohamad Zulhelmy Amirrudin, 29, and housewife Norfazira Radzi, 30, who were dressed in black, nodded after the charge was read out to them before Magistrate Chai Guan Hock, according to Malay language daily Sinar Harian.

However, no plea was recorded from the couple as the case falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

According to the charge, they are accused of jointly murdering Nur Anissa Afiera Muhamad Zulhafize, eight, at an apartment in Bandar Tasik Puteri, Rawang, here, between 11:51am and 3:51pm on Aug 17.

Mohamad Zulhelmy is Nur Anissa's stepfather.

The couple were charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty or imprisonment for a term between 30 to 40 years.

The prosecution was handled by Deputy Public Prosecutor Nor Izariah Zainal while the couple was not represented.
