Sixty injured Palestinians arrive in Malaysia

SUBANG: More than sixty injured Palestinians and their family members safely arrived at the Subang Airforce base.

They arrived in two Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) Airbus A-400M aircraft at about 2pm on Friday (Aug 16).

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, Palestinian Ambassador to Malaysia Walid Abu Ali and top military officers were among those who welcomed the Palestinians.

The injured Palestinians received immediate checkups at a field hospital set up at the hangar of the Air Force base.

They will then receive further treatment at the Tuanku Mizan Armed Forces Hospital in Wangsa Maju.

It was reported that the two RMAF aircraft were deployed to the Almaza Air Force Base in Egypt to transport injured Palestinians to Malaysia for medical treatment.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin confirmed the matter.

On Aug 4, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that Malaysia would allow vulnerable Palestinians, namely the wounded, women and children, to seek refuge here.

“We will continue to provide humanitarian aid and support. We do not care about what the Western world expects from us and attempt to decide which nation we should have ties with or not,” said the Prime Minister at the Free Palestine gathering.
