Putatan teen returns home, one more still missing, say police

KOTA KINABALU: One of the two teenagers reported missing in Putatan earlier has returned safely, while the other is still missing, says the police.

Penampang OCPD Supt Sammy Newton said Nicholas Chee Ping returned home on Thursday (Aug 8) at 9.15pm.

"The 13-year-old returned home voluntarily after staying at a friend's house for a week.

“He had apparently contacted his family after a missing person report was lodged over his whereabouts,” said Supt Newton.

He added that the family had notified the police and made a report of his return on Friday (Aug 9) at 4.12pm, some 24 hours after they reported him missing.

Police, however, are still seeking the public's assistance to locate the teenager’s cousin Rezlo Mic Fadden Romineo, 15, who reportedly ran away from his home at Kampung Buit Hill, Putatan.

It was reported that the two teens had left together, prompting their families to lodge police reports.

Those who know or have seen Rezlo are advised to contact investigating officer Insp Chee Yue Liew at 016-666 8586.
