Sarawak launches Sukma 2024 app for real-time updates

KUCHING: Malaysians can stay updated with the latest results and events of the upcoming Malaysia Games (Sukma) in Sarawak through a new app, says Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

The state Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister said the Sukma Sarawak 2024 app contains detailed information about the Games, including event schedules, athlete profiles, results and the medal tally.

He said app users could also get the latest news on Sukma and watch live coverage via a link to state-owned television channel TVS.

"Through the app, the public and Sukma contingents can keep track of events, results and the latest medal tally. They can also check the venues of events, with maps provided to help them get there," Abdul Karim said when launching the app on Friday (Aug 9).

He noted that events and results would be updated in real time on the app.

"I believe this is the first Sukma to have its own app and I hope it will run smoothly and efficiently," he added.

Abdul Karim also activated the Sukma command centre at the Baitulmakmur II building here, which will operate from today until the end of the Para Malaysia Games (Para Sukma) on Sept 28.

He said the command centre would assist the Games secretariat in monitoring the running of Sukma and Para Sukma, handling any issues arising at the 50 sports venues and managing logistics.

"The command centre will also provide live monitoring of the sports events and medal tally," he said.

In addition, Abdul Karim announced photography and video contests for the public from Aug 12 to 24.

The photography contest has an open category and a youth category for school, college and university students, while the video contest is open to all.

The contests offer total prize money of RM15,500. More details can be found at the Sukma website at www.sukmasarawak2024.my.

Sukma will be held from Aug 17 to 24, followed by Para Sukma from Sept 22 to 28.
