Nur Farah Kartini’s family hopes justice will prevail

HULU SELANGOR: The family of murder victim Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah hopes the legal process will run smoothly.

A relative, Suzursofia Smeth Jaya, said the family had been satisfied with the police investigation and subsequent prosecution of the suspect, a policeman.

“We hope the legal process will run smoothly to ensure justice for Nur Farah,” she said when met outside the Kuala Kubu Baru Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Suzursofia said Nur Farah Kartini’s other family members would be present when the case comes up for mention on Aug 30.

“We are thankful for the efforts of the police and prosecution so far,” she said.

Earlier, L/Kpl Muhammad Alif Monjani, 26, was charged with the murder of Nur Farah Kartini, 25.The family members of both Nur Farah Kartini and L/Kpl Muhammad Alif were in court for the proceedings.

It was reported that investigators had searched for evidence at various locations in Selangor and Perak, including in Kampung Sri Keledang, Hulu Selangor; Sungai Trolak, Kampung Batu 4 and a tapioca farm in Slim River, Perak.

Various items belonging to the deceased, such as her mobile phone and handbag, had been recovered, including by divers of Selangor police’s forensic sub-aquatic unit in Sungai Trolak.

Police believe Kampung Sri Keledang to be the main crime scene and that the act was committed by one perpetrator.

The victim’s body had been found at an oil palm plantation in Kampung Sri Keledang on July 15.

Nur Farah Kartini, originally from Sarawak and a former student of Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, was reported missing on July 11 after sending a rental car to a customer at Taman Universiti, Tanjung Malim.
