Komtar Tower operations halted due to water leak

GEORGE TOWN: Work at Komtar stopped on Friday morning (July 26) after water leaked into the building.

The leak occurred at 3am after a technical problem with a water pump caused the water tank to overflow and leak water into Level 27 of the Komtar tower.

Water also leaked into the tower’s lifts, causing a shutdown. The mid-zone and low-zone lifts were affected.

Only the yellow lift, which heads up from level one to the 26th floor, is operational.

The staff was informed of the issue at around 8am. They have been advised to work from home, especially those who are pregnant, disabled, or have health ailments.

The affected areas were closed for cleaning.
