Rakyat express faith in Sultan Ibrahim’s leadership as new King

JOHOR BARU: It was a proud moment for Johoreans here as they witnessed the installation of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim as the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Retiree B. Saogatharan, 69, said this was the second time he witnessed the installation ceremony of a Yang di-Pertuan Agong after Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah of Pahang in 2019.

“Seeing His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, our beloved Ruler, on the stage really lifted my spirits.

“I believe that His Majesty will be able to bring our nation to greater heights just like what he has done with Johor,” he said.

Saogatharan said this when met at the live screening programme of the installation ceremony at the National Information Dissemination Centre (Nadi) in Taman Cempaka, which was organised by the Pulai MP office yesterday.

Salon owner Ng Siew Peng, 64, expressed hope that all races in the country will be able to continue living in peace and harmony and work together to build Malaysia into a better country.

“My only wish is that there will no longer be any conflict among races in the country.

“Our Yang di-Pertuan Agong is from Johor, so we as Johoreans must play a crucial role in setting an example for the whole country,” she said.

She added that Johor would now be the main focus not only in terms of domestic and international development but also as a place for people to look for jobs.

Private sector worker Rozilah Rosmadi, 32, expressed hope that His Majesty could help create more job opportunities for degree holders.

Also hoping for more job opportunities was civil servant Mubin Zapni, 26, who said the country needs more human capital and a highly skilled workforce.

“We are losing our youth and talent to neighbouring Singapore as we do not have enough job opportunities locally.

“But I am hopeful that with all the development Sultan Ibrahim will bring, we will be able to open up more opportunities for our locals and make them stay,” he said.

Pulai MP Suhaizan Kayat said 50 people attended the live viewing programme of the installation ceremony at Nadi Taman Cempaka.“The residents gathered to witness this historic event for our state of Johor.

“This is a significant day for us,” he said.
