Brother Rulers attend momentous ceremony

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malay Rulers converged at Istana Negara here to witness the installation of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim as the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Among the first to arrive yesterday were Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin and Sultanah Nur Zahirah of Terengganu, and Yang di-Pertuan Besar Negri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir and Tunku Ampuan Besar Tuanku Aishah Rohani Tengku Besar Mahmud.

Also present were Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah and Raja Permaisuri Perak Tuanku Zara Salim, Sultan of Kedah Al-Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah and Sultanah of Kedah Sultanah Maliha Tengku Arif, as well as Regent of Johor Tunku Mahkota Ismail and Che’ Puan Mahkota Khaleeda Johor.

The Regent of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, and Raja Puan Muda of Perlis Tuanku Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, Tengku Mahkota of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Tengku Mahkota Kelantan Tengku Muhammad Fakhry Petra were also in attendance, Bernama reported.

Also present were Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Penang Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak, Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Melaka Tun Mohd Ali Rustam, Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sabah Tun Juhar Mahiruddin, and the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sarawak Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.

On Jan 31, Sultan Ibrahim took the oath of office to reign as the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong for the next five years.
