Police confiscate 34 motorcycles, arrest four in Johor


JOHOR BARU: Police have confiscated 34 motorcycles and arrested four individuals for performing dangerous stunts on the road around Jalan Skudai-Pantai Lido.

Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat said the operation was conducted under Ops Samseng Jalanan by the traffic department between 5pm on Sunday (July 14) and 4am on Monday (July 15).

"The location is a known hotspot for youth performing dangerous manoeuvres such as wheelie, superman, and zig-zag riding, which pose dangers to themselves and other road users.

"We inspected 54 individuals and 49 vehicles, confiscated 34 motorcycles, and issued 73 summonses for various traffic offences such as not having a licence and illegal modifications," he said in a statement.

ACP Raub added that the confiscation was made under Section 64 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for modifying exhausts and engines.

"Three individuals aged between 17 and 28 were arrested under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for conducting dangerous stunts.

"Another 21-year-old man was arrested under Section 108(3)(f) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for driving with a fake licence," he said.
