Singaporean woman fractures leg descending Mount Kinabalu


MOSAR member providing assistance to stabilise victim's condition who fractured leg while descending Mount Kinabalu.

KOTA KINABALU: Fire and Rescue Services Department rescued a Singaporean woman who fractured her leg while descending the peak of Mount Kinabalu on Thursday (July 11).

The 41-year-old victim slipped and fell at KM8.3, just 200 metres from the summit, fracturing her left leg.

Sabah Fire and Rescue Services Department operations centre assistant chief Riki Mohan Singh Ramday said they were alerted of the incident at 8.06am and a team of seven was immediately dispatched.

"The operation was also assisted by teams from the Sabah Parks and Mountain Search and Rescue (Mosar).

"Upon arriving at the location, the victim was found to have broken her left ankle based on the deformity of her leg," he said.

Riki Mohan stated that the Mosar team quickly provided assistance to stabilise the victim's condition.

He added that the victim was then carried down to Timpohon Gate using a Robinson stretcher.
