Elderly woman steals cow after tiff with livestock farmer, distributes meat to villagers

ALOR GAJAH: An elderly woman who got into an argument with a livestock farmer here stole one of his cows before slaughtering it and distributing the meat to villagers from Kampung Asli Kubang Badak, Tebong.

Alor Gajah OCPD Superintendent Ashari Ab Samah said the 69-year-old suspect was detained along with a 30-year-old Indonesian man after the farmer lodged a report on July 5.

"The suspect claimed that her durian orchard was damaged by the cattle belonging to the 38-year-old farmer, which prompted her to kill and butcher the animal, which is worth RM3,000.

"We are also investigating whether if the suspects are responsible for the mysterious disappearance of over 20 cows belonging to the same farmer," he said on Wednesday (July 10).

Supt Ashari said the farmer found the head of the slaughtered cow in the suspect's orchard, which he identified via a Veterinary Services Department ear tag.

He said the farmer lodged a police report before police detained the woman and the male suspect.

Supt Ashari said both the suspects have been remanded until July 12 under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft and Section 428 of the Penal Code for maiming animals.
