KUALA LUMPUR: The Type Three Health Clinic (KK3) in Kampung Raja, which is expected to start operating next month, will be a catalyst for improved health facilities for the local community, says Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.

The Deputy Works Minister said the construction of the clinic, which involved an allocation of RM32mil, was fully completed last month and will be operational as soon as it is handed over to the Health Ministry.

"We commenced construction of this clinic in 2020 and it was completed on June 10, 2024. We are currently in the process of setting up the place.

"This two-storey clinic on a 1.6ha site is capable of accommodating as many as 200 patients every day and there are two specialists here, a dentist and a medical specialist," he told reporters after inspecting the Type Three Health Clinic project in Kampung Raja on Sunday (July 7).

Ahmad said the construction of the health clinic by the Public Works Department aims to replace the existing Kampung Raja Health Clinic because it is outdated, unable to accommodate the large number of patients, lacks specialist doctors, and does not have a suitable parking area.

The new health clinic, located about 8km from Jertih town, is also equipped with amenities such as staff quarters, a guard post, a pump house, a support block, and parking areas.

In another development, Ahmad said the ministry had approved the construction of another bridge across Sungai Besut in Jertih with a length of 1.2km and an allocation of RM118mil.

"We are now in the process of designing the bridge and the tender for its construction will be opened in May next year. It will be an iconic bridge for this city (Jertih)," he said.

He added that the construction of a new bridge adjacent to the existing one is expected to reduce traffic congestion, especially during holidays and festivals in Jertih, which is the main route to Kelantan from Terengganu.

Additionally, Ahmad said the Works Ministry had also approved the construction of a bus station in Jertih with an allocation of RM16.9mil. – Bernama
