Many straight-A students not getting matriculation spots, claims Dr Wee

PETALING JAYA: High-achievers have still failed to obtain spots in the matriculation programme, says Datuk Dr Seri Wee Ka Siong.

"It is truly heartbreaking when my office and the person in charge at MCA Youth received calls from helpless parents of those who failed to make it to the matriculation programme today.

"When the appeal results were announced at 3pm just now, many who obtained 10As failed to get into the programme," said the MCA president on Facebook on Friday (July 5).

He said that many parents were heartbroken because they had high hopes of their children getting enrolled into the programme.

On Sunday (June 30), Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that following a decision reached in a Cabinet meeting days earlier, all SPM students regardless of race, who scored 10As and above will get a place in matriculation programmes.
