PETALING JAYA: The Good Vibes Festival (GVF) 2024 has been cancelled to respect the coronation ceremony of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the 17th King of Malaysia.
Future Sound Asia, the music festival’s organiser, announced the news on social media on Monday (July 1).
They also said the festival would not be rescheduled, marking the second consecutive year it was cancelled.
“Due to the nature of GVF, which involves multiple touring acts over multiple days, rescheduling the music festival is impossible.
“All GVF ticket purchasers will automatically receive full refunds to the payment methods used for their purchases,” it said in a statement on the GVF Instagram page on Monday (July 1).
The annual music festival was meant to occur on July 20 and 21 at Resorts World Awana in Genting Highlands. It promised a line-up of renowned international artists.
The festival was also abruptly cancelled in 2023 with full refunds after British band The 1975 frontman Matt Healy committed a controversial on-stage stunt while criticising Malaysian laws.
The ensuing massive backlash and condemnation from both the public and government led to the immediate cancellation of the festival and the banning of The 1975 from Malaysia.
