Five-year-old girl riding bike in residential area killed in accident


SEREMBAN: A five-year-old girl who was riding her bicycle in a residential area here has died after a car crashed into her.

Seremban police chief Asst Comm Mohamad Hatta Che Din said the girl died at the Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital an hour after the accident which took place around 7pm on Sunday (June 30).

He said the victim was riding behind a four-wheel-drive vehicle and the car involved in the accident was coming from the opposite direction.

"The girl suddenly rode into the opposing lane and the 34-year-old driver was unable to stop in time and crashed into her," he said.

ACP Mohamad Hatta said the victim was immediately rushed to hospital but died shortly after.

He urged witnesses to contact investigating officer Insp Fadzilah Ahmad at 016-289 5801 or to call the nearest police station.

The case is being probed under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act.
