Penang investiture ceremony postponed


GEORGE TOWN: The Penang investiture ceremony for state awards, medals and honours for 2024 has been postponed.

Penang speaker Datuk Law Choo Kiang said the ceremony, to be held in conjunction with the 75th birthday of Penang Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak, will be postponed to July 27 till Aug 1.

He said the initial date overlaps with the coronation of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.

However, July 13 will remain a public holiday in Penang to celebrate Tun Ahmad's birthday, said Law in the statement on Sunday (June 23).
