Boy, 9, killed in Sandakan croc attack


KOTA KINABALU: A nine-year-old boy has been killed in a crocodile attack at a river in Sabah's east coast Sandakan district.

The body of Mohd Radhi Randi was found by villagers about 500m from the spot where he was attacked by the crocodile at Kg Lembaga Batu 8, along Datuk Tay Road, at 3.05pm on Sunday (June 23).

According to a Sandakan Fire and Rescue Department spokesman, Mohd Radhi was swimming in the river at about noon when the crocodile attacked.

Firemen were notified at 12.15pm, and a search and rescue operation was initiated at 12.30pm.

Villagers in the area found the body which was handed over to police for further action, the spokesman added.
