Woman allegedly beaten by hubby, dies


IPOH: A woman was believed to have been beaten to death by her husband in an incident at a house in Kampung Simee here.

Perak police chief Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri, who confirmed the matter, said the case was still under investigation by the Ipoh district police.

“I can confirm the incident; as for a full investigation, the Ipoh OCPD (Ipoh district police chief ACP Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad) said the police are currently collecting evidence. It is still under investigation,” he said when contacted by Bernama yesterday.

He also confirmed that the suspect had been arrested, and police discovered items believed to have been used in criminal activity, such as a knife.

According to earlier media reports, the victim and her husband got into an argument before the suspect hit her.

The media also reported that the woman was believed to be a frequent victim of domestic violence.
