Bersatu terminates membership of six rogue MPs, says Hamzah

PETALING JAYA: The party membership for six Bersatu MPs has been terminated immediately, says Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin.

The party secretary-general said in a statement that their termination was made under Article 10.4 of Bersatu's constitution.

"In line with the decision made by the Bersatu supreme council on June 7 and after being announced to the Perikatan Nasional supreme council meeting last night on June 11, the termination notices have been handed over to the six MPs," said Hamzah.

For Labuan MP Datuk Dr Suhaili Abdul Rahman, Hamzah said his termination was made under Article 10.2.6 of the Bersatu constitution.

"The notice of the termination of his membership was sent to him earlier on May 17," he added.

Hamzah said all the processes above were carried out according to the party's constitution and the country's laws as provided for under Article 49 (A) of the Federal Constitution and state laws.

Six Bersatu MPs have declared their support for Anwar.

The other five MPs are Tanjung Karang MP Dr Zulkafperi Hanapi, Zahari Kechik (Jeli), Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar), Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal (Bukit Gantang) and Mohd Azizi Abu Naim (Gua Musang).

Selat Klang assemblyman Datuk Abdul Rashid Asari of Bersatu had also declared his support for the leadership of Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
