Seven nabbed in Kluang with shotguns and dead wildlife in vehicle


KLUANG: Seven local men have been arrested after three shotguns and dead wildlife were found in their four-wheel drive (4WD).

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said the suspects, aged between 34 and 39, were detained at around 5pm on Saturday (June 1).

“A team of enforcement personnel from the Johor Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan), police and General Operations Force (GOF) Simpang Renggam detained the 4WD at Kampung Baru Dalam here.

“Upon inspection of the vehicle, the team found the carcasses of 12 jungle fowl and a deer (kijang). We also seized three shotguns and 18 shells,” he said here on Tuesday (June 4).

ACP Bahrin added that none of the suspects had criminal records and they all tested negative for drugs.

All seven have been remanded for five days, he added.

ACP Bahrin said the case was being investigated under Section 8 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971 and Section 8(A) of the Arms Act 1960.
