Peeping Tom nabbed for filming women in toilet of Melaka cafe

MELAKA: Melaka police arrested a 27-year-old peeping Tom and discovered multiple videos of women in the toilet of a popular cafe in Lorong Hang Jebat here.

Melaka police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Zainol Samah said the suspect, an Indonesian man, was arrested on Sunday (June 2) after a police report was lodged by a 24-year-old woman from Selangor that day.

He said the victim caught the suspect red-handed when she was in the toilet on the first floor of the shop at 4.15pm that day.

"The victim noticed a mobile phone through a vent while she was in the toilet.

"She then sprayed water using the bidet hose at the suspect holding the phone before rushing out of the toilet," he said on Tuesday (June 4).

DCP Zainol said the victim then told a friend about the incident and they informed the outlet manager.

He said the manager then checked the mobile phone of the suspect, a cleaner there, and found numerous videos of other women believed to have been recorded while they used the same toilet.

DCP Zainol said the victim was then advised to lodge a police report.

He said the suspect, who has been working at the outlet since last year, also tested positive for drugs.

The suspect is currently being investigated for insulting modesty under Section 509 of the Penal Code, he added.
