Melaka Statistic Department assistant officer faces trial for misappropriation and false claims


MELAKA: An assistant officer serving the Melaka Statistic Department claimed trial at Sessions Court here to six counts of alleged misappropriation of property and false claims amounting to RM85,000.

The plea of Norrul Huda Marsidin, 40, was recorded before Judge Elesabet Paya Wan on Friday (May 17).

Based on the first three charges, the accused reportedly dishonestly misappropriated the Melaka Statistic Department and Youth Organisation of Kampung Tenang property, totalling RM18,154.10 and RM59,400 from Dec 2021 to Nov 2022.

The charges are framed under Section 403 of the Penal Code.

The accused also faced three additional charges for allegedly submitting three invoices from FIS Gemilang Enterprise dated Nov 22, 2021, containing fraudulent details for the supplies of food and drinks, totalling RM6,640, where the supplies were never made.

The charges are framed under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.

Deputy Public Prosecutor from MACC Mohamad Azriff Firdaus Mohamad prosecuted while the accused was represented by lawyer Azrul Zulkifli Stork.

The court granted the accused a bail of RM20,000 with one surety and fixed June 26 as the next mention date.
