Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) director Comm Datuk Seri Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf speaking at the press conference, Friday.

KUALA LUMPUR: Three local men and a Vietnamese woman were detained following a raid on an Ah Long operation centre in Rawang.

Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) director Comm Datuk Seri Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf said the suspects, aged between 22 and 34, were detained during the raid on a house used by the syndicate on May 14.

"We seized several items including seven mobile phones, two ATM cards and RM5,650 in cash," he told a press conference at CCID headquarters here on Friday (May 17).

Investigation showed that the Ah Long syndicate has been operating since February, he said.

"The three men detained were hired as agents to look for customers on social media sites. They would also meet prospective clients in person," said Comm Ramli.

The amount of interest imposed on loans ranged from 10% to 12%, he said.

"We believe the syndicate raked in RM200,000 in profits monthly.

"Some victims were forced to take up new plans even after settling their previous ones," he added.

Comm Ramli said the suspects have been remanded until May 15.

"We will investigate them further," he said.
