KOTA KINABALU: A car was damaged after a large tree fell on top of it in Sabah’s east coast Tawau district.

The incident took place near Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Bahagia on Tuesday (May 14).

Tawau Fire and Rescue station chief Jemishin Ujin said they rushed a seven-man team to the scene following a call at 6.37pm.

“The tree had fallen on a car parked at the location,” he said, when contacted on Wednesday (May 15).

“We subsequently cut off the branches using a chainsaw,” he added.

They cleared the debris, he said and discarded them at a spot safely away from the road so that traffic flow would not be obstructed.

“Only the car was damaged in the incident, no one was reported to be hurt,” Jemishin said.

The team ended the operation at 7.14pm, he added.
