15 bikes seized, 66 compounds issued during traffic op in Ampang


AMPANG: A total of 15 motorcycles were seized for various offences following a traffic operation around Jalan Ampang and Tasek Tambahan.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail said the operation codenamed "Ops Samseng Jalanan", was conducted between 1am and 5am on Sunday (May 12).

"We seized 15 motorcycles under Section 64(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and Section 6(4) of the same Act for illegal exhaust modification, having no valid driving licence and other offence," he said in a statement on Monday (May 13).

All motorcycles were brought to the Ampang Traffic police station for further action, he said.

"During the operation, we also inspected 32 individuals and 27 vehicles.

"A total of 66 summonses were issued for not having a driving licence, registration number not following approved specifications, illegal exhaust modification and others," he said.

ACP Mohd Azam said inspections were conducted focusing on illegal modifications of vehicles.

"We paid particular attention to motorcycles and its riders as they have the potential of doing dangerous stunts," he said.
