KUALA LUMPUR: The Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is expected to produce a photo-fit of a suspect in the acid-splashing attack on national footballer Faisal Halim.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the department, led by Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain, will prepare the photo-fit soon.“For the time being, the CID will produce the photo-fit and from there, we will be able to gather even more information.

“We will send the fingerprints lifted from a shopping mall for analysis,” he told reporters after attending the Autism Awareness Day at the Pengaman/PDRM Autism Centre of the Police Training Centre (Pulapol) yesterday.

“We have recorded the statements of more than 12 individuals, including Faisal’s family members, doctors and important witnesses.

“As for Faisal, we have already recorded his statement early in the investigation,” said Razarudin.

It was reported that national winger Faisal, who is also known as Mickey, suffered an acid attack last Sunday at a shopping mall in Kota Damansara.

Police received information from the public at 5.51pm that the national footballer was splashed with liquid believed to be acid when he was at the mall.

The reason behind the attack is unknown.

Images of his injury went viral on social media and many netizens are in shock that such an incident happened to a national football player.

Just days before that, his Harimau Malaya teammate Akhyar Rashid was robbed in Kuala Terengganu and suffered cuts and bruises.

On May 7, former national captain Safiq Rahim escaped unhurt after two men broke his rear windscreen in Johor Baru.

The 36-year-old, who plays for Super League champions Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), revealed the incident on his social media account by posting a police report.
