Three killed, four injured after 4WD crashes into drain near Miri


SIBU:Three people were killed while another four sustained injuries when the four-wheel drive vehicle they were travelling in was involved in an accident on Sunday (May 5) near Suai Niah, Miri.

The deceased have been identified as Evelyn Shely Mangie, 26; Eddy Indau, 26; and Jenging Tinsok, 39.

Those injured were aged between two to 62 years old.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department, in its daily update, said it received a distress call at 6.55pm concerning an accident at the location.

"When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found a vehicle had crashed in a drain on the road shoulder," it said.

Two of the victims had been helped out of the vehicle by members of the public while four others, who were trapped in the vehicle, were brought out by firefighters.

Another victim, who was in the bush by the road shoulder, was rescued using a stretcher.
