Husband charged with murder of AKPS officer; case set for Dec 22 mention

The accused being taken to court to be charged for his wife's murder

SEREMBAN: The 37-year-old husband of a Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency officer has been charged with her murder at a Magistrate's Court here.

No plea was recorded from Mohd Khairudin Safi'ai after the charge was read to him before Magistrate Nurul Saqinah Rosli on Monday (Oct 26).

He was charged with the murder of 35-year-old Norhazwani Ibrahim at a KLIA government quarters unit in Nilai around 7pm on Oct 15.

The accused was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Offenders can be sentenced to death, jailed for between 30 and 40 years and whipped upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Farah Wahidah Mohd Sharip then asked the court for a mention date as the post mortem report was not ready.

The court then fixed Dec 22 for next mention.

The suspect, who was unrepresented, had remained in remand since Oct 16.

A post-mortem found that the woman died from pressure on her neck.

The examination also revealed three stab wounds, two to the abdomen and one to the right cheek.

Authorities had also seized a knife believed to have been used to commit the crime and other exhibits from the crime scene as part of their probe.

The couple had been married for seven years and had two children aged six and five.
