Job seekers making the most of myStarJob Fair 2024
PUTRAJAYA: Job seekers are making the most of myStarJob Fair 2024 by finding the right fit for themselves at the job-matching session.
Hopeful talent went about intently to try to secure that dream job among the local and international exhibitors participating this weekend.
Among the aspirants at the job-matching session was Iklil Hawaa Noorddin, 25, who is on a quest for a creative post after working in the medical field in the United Kingdom.
“I just completed my Master’s in pharmacology in King’s College and have previously worked with the National Health Service in the UK.
“It was quite stressful and now I am seeking a role in sales or the creative field.

“It was my first time participating in a job-matching session and it was fun and interactive.
“The session wasn’t interview-focused but more like a casual conversation getting to know about the company so it was also great for me to network as well,” she said when met at myStarJob Fair 2024 here yesterday.
Looking for an internship role relevant to her field of studies was 19-year-old Violyn Kangdinata, from Indonesia, who found the session helpful, especially in knowing what recruiters hope to see in potential candidates.
“Even though I am here only to look for an internship, I got an idea of the kind of questions employers would normally ask,” said the business student.
Feruni Ceramiche Sdn Bhd chief people officer Vikram Sukumaran said the company wants to hire people with a passion for the beauty and design concept.
“So far, what we have found from the job seekers is that they want to connect with their employers and find purpose in their work.

Alchemy Global Solutions recruiter Izzath Izzuddin said the company is in search of candidates who are willing to broaden their knowledge and skill sets.
For the job-matching session, Izzath said he gave emphasis to the ability to answer questions quickly, which could reflect a person’s problem-solving skills.
“The two-minute session was short and fast-paced. Those who could keep their composure and come up with answers promptly showed an ability to find solutions quickly.
“Right now, we are offering roles for our marketing department as Alchemy is fast expanding.
“At the same time, we would also like to find out what the new generation of job seekers expects from a company,” he added.
Those interested to participate in the job-matching session can walk in and register for any of the three sessions scheduled at 12.30pm, 2.30pm and 4.30pm today.
KL Fertility & Gynaecology Centre Sdn Bhd centre manager Loke May Kew said the job fair enables the specialist clinic to find talent who are curious, willing to learn and emphatic.
“Since we deal with fertility treatment, we need our staff to be able to provide comfort and support to those going for the procedure.
“On our end, we will be accommodating to our staff in terms of their needs and benefits.
“We offer employee benevolence assistance such as help to fix their roof or to pay for funeral expenses,” she added.
Manulife Insurance Bhd head of sales John Lau said the multinational company hopes to hire the Gen Z.
“These youth have their own mind and want freedom, flexibility, empowerment while getting to enjoy the best things in life.
“We offer them several job options including full-time roles with commission benefit as well as incentives including travel around the world and training,” he said.
The two-day myStarJob Fair 2024 being held at the IOI Grand Exhibition and Convention Centre, from 11am to 7pm, ends today.
