KOTA KINABALU: Police have detained six people and seized over 2kg of syabu in a raid in Sabah’s East coast Tawau district.
A team from the district anti-narcotics unit made the arrests after raiding a house in Kampung Inderasabah following a public tip-off at about 1.30am on Wednesday (May 1).
Tawau OCPD Asst Comm Jasmin Hussin said the suspects tried to flee but were surrounded.
He said the suspects, aged between 20 and 40, comprised a local and five Indonesians.
“Upon further checking, our men found two packets containing the suspected syabu,” he said, in a press conference on Thursday (May 2).
The drugs weighed more than 2kg and had a street value of over RM120,000, he added.
ACP Jasmin said the suspects, believed to be drug dealers, have been remanded until May 9 for probe under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Urine tests on the suspects found four of them positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine, he said.
“They were trying to establish the drug distribution network.
“The police will not compromise in the fight against drugs in the district,” he warned.
