Panda Nuan Nuan reunited with 'nanny father' – and soft toy – after three-and-a-half years

PETALING JAYA: Nuan Nuan, the Giant Panda who was born in Malaysia, has received a visit from her former caretaker Akmal Hadi Samsuddin.

In a video posted by the Chinese Embassy to Malaysia, Akmal, who is Nuan Nuan's "nanny father", was in Nanjing on Thursday (April 25) to visit his "princess" who grew up under his care.

Nuan Nuan was born in Malaysia's Zoo Negara to the panda pair Xing Xing and Liang Liang and was returned to China in 2017.

Akmal said he had not seen her for over three-and-a-half years.

He even brought along a special soft toy that Nuan Nuan loves.

"Nuan Nuan slept with this since she was a one-year-old. If you watch some old videos, you will see this soft toy," he said.

In an accompanying video, Akmal can be seen waving to Nuan Nuan in her enclosure.

Akmal also takes some photos with her and watches her for a long time.
