MCA, MIC boycott in KKB good for us, says Muhyiddin

BUKIT FRASER: It will be good for Perikatan Nasional if the government parties are not happy with the Kuala Kubu Bharu by-election candidate chosen, says coalition chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

"We are not bothered with whether MCA is supporting the unity government candidate or not. If they boycott the unity government candidate, then it is better for them to support us," said Muhyiddin.

"I will, however, not tell MCA or MIC on what they should do - it is not for me to interfere. If they stay out ( of campaigning for the unity government candidate), it will be better for us," said Muhyiddin.

The Bersatu president said this when asked if MCA and MIC sitting out the by-election if a non-Barisan Nasional candidate is chosen would be beneficial to Perikatan.

He said this at the Bersatu Hari Raya Open House at Fraser Valley here today (April 21).

On Friday (April 19), MCA stated that it would not campaign in the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election if the candidate was not from Barisan.

The party's political development committee announced the decision via a statement after a meeting at the party headquarters on Friday.
