Aidilfitri Madani 2024 celebration takes centre stage in Sabah


KOTA KINABALU: The national-level Aidilfitri Madani 2024 celebration at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) here on Saturday (April 20) will see people from all walks of life coming together in a harmonious atmosphere to commemorate the festival.

Themed "Perpaduan Melalui Perayaan” (Unity Through Celebration), this inaugural event in the state not only serve as a platform to foster goodwill and unity among the community but also provides an opportunity for leaders to meet with the people.

The event commenced at 10.30am, welcoming guests, particularly residents of Kota Kinabalu, until 3pm.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was scheduled to attend the event at 11.45am, and the ceremony would be officiated by Yang Dipertua Negeri of Sabah Tun Juhar Mahiruddin at 12.30pm.

Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor would also be in attendance.

The event, organised through collaboration between the Sabah government as the host and the National Unity Ministry as the lead ministry, also marks the beginning of the Kembara Perpaduan Tour programme in conjunction with the 2024 Unity Week Celebration in May.

Sabah was among the seven states selected to host the Aidilfitri Madani 2024 celebration with the Prime Minister, apart from Johor (April 18); Melaka (April 22); Kelantan (May 2); Kedah (May 4); Penang (May 5); and Terengganu on May 9. - Bernama
